Advice Quality Standard Award February 2015
Doorway is once again delighted to be awarded the Advice Quality Standard Award (AQS).
Organisations are audited every two years and have to demonstrate that they are accessible, effectively managed and employ staff with the skills and knowledge to meet the needs of their clients.
We are proud of this award and will continue to provide a quality service to the vulnerable young people we support.
Hidden Homeless Film
Thanks to Lottery funding, in conjunction with Metal Dog Media, Doorway has produced a short film featuring Doorway young people telling their stories and dispelling the myths around youth homelessness. The aim of this project was to give young people new skills and enable them to investigate and present an issue which affects them directly. Staff supported them to present their film at a community screening at the Abbey Arts Theatre on 24th September 2014.
A Place To Stay: A Film created by Young People
Doorway's Young People's Group worked closely with the Community Arts Workshop to make an urban street dance music video about youth homelessness. There were weekly workshops to write the lyrics, design the graffiti board, develop their ideas, record the singing, learning urban street dance and filming.
The film was launched at the Odeon Cinema in Nuneaton on 22nd April 2010 and introduced by 6 of the young people involved in different aspects of making the film.
Doorway Presented Gold Standard at "A Place to Stay" Premiere!
The launch of "A Place to Stay" was memorable for many reasons, one of them being the presentation of the the Gold Award from Warwickshire County Council, Warwickshire Award for Involvement which was presented at the premiere at the Odeon Cinema.
This is a kite mark scheme to support projects like Doorway to benchmark and improve their practice and policy around how they involve young people in the design, development and evaluation of services. Well done to all our young people and staff at Doorway for their achievement.
